LOCAL WINNER BROWN TO COMPETE AT DIVISION LEVEL HUMOUROUS SPEECH CONTEST

TWIN OAKS TOASTMASTERS President Don Larson announced that Tanis Brown, San Marcos, won local and area club contests and will compete against several top speakers several other north county clubs in the coming weeks.

Ms. Brown's winning speech, "What's So Funny About Fear?," held the audience's close attention, and earned Ms. Brown a first place finish at both the club and area level. Ms. Brown is a long-time San Marcos resident and is the Training Coordinator at Cal State San Marcos.

Ms. Brown will compete at the Northern Division Competition to be held Saturday, October 30, in San Diego.

The club is a fun and supportive group. Toastmasters strives to provide the skills for proficient public speaking, speaking nimbly with surprise topics (ad hoc speeches), constructive comments through evaluation speeches, and meeting coordination through serving in the Toastmaster role. Twin Oaks Toastmasters is a professional club with dynamic members meeting weekly during the lunchtime hour. Our fast-paced meetings provide the successful club member with public speaking experience combined with a enjoyable lunch break. The facilities, hosted by University of Phoenix, feature state of the art meeting presentation software and projection equipment. Founded in 1999, Twin Oaks Toastmaster has won awards from Toastmasters headquarters as a leading club, including being a President's Distinguished club.
